A bold evolution from Corporate America Family CU to Alero Financial, this strategic rebrand redefined the credit union’s identity, sharpened its market positioning, and introduced a modern, human-centered brand built for long-term growth.

The Challenge

Corporate America Family Credit Union (CAFCU) had strong roots, loyal members, and a reputation for trust — but its brand no longer reflected its future.

Through the BrandUp™ Workshop and competitive analysis, several key challenges surfaced:

  • Low brand awareness beyond its immediate local region

  • Outdated perception in a digital-first marketplace

  • Inconsistent messaging across touchpoints

  • Limited differentiation in a national footprint

Internally, CAFCU was community-driven, service-oriented, and deeply committed to members. Externally, the brand felt traditional not progressive. The name itself limited broader positioning and growth potential.

CAFCU needed more than a logo refresh. They needed a strategic transformation.

The Objective

To evolve CAFCU into a bold financial brand that:

  • Stands out amongst both credit unions and banking instutions

  • Appeals to multiple generations of consumers

  • Reflects innovation without losing human connection

  • Sharpens its value proposition and market differentiation

  • Aligns internal culture with external expression

The goal was not simply to rename the credit union— but to build a brand identity rooted in clarity, confidence, authenticity, and long-term scalability.

The Strategy

EmpowerFi™ led CAFCU through our proprietary BrandUp™ Workshop & Blueprint process, a collaborative workshop and strategic framework designed to align purpose, perception, positioning, and future vision.

Through facilitated brand exercises, X-Factor analysis, behavioral persona development, and competitive positioning, we identified the opportunity to reposition the credit union as a lifelong financial ally that moves with you at the speed of life.

From that foundation, the name Alero Financial was born.

Alero translates to “your wingman” or “buddy” — the trusted person who has your back. This concept directly aligned with workshop insights emphasizing:

  • Authenticity & transparency

  • Modernized convenience

  • Real people moving at real paces

  • Leaving room for laughter and warmth

The new brand platform centered on the idea of:

Moving at the speed of life. At your pace. In your corner. Less stress, more “you got this.”

We developed a visual identity and messaging system that balanced boldness with warmth — combining confident typography, contemporary color palettes, and approachable brand voice guidelines designed to feel steady and down-to-earth.

The result: a brand that feels progressive and tech-forward, yet deeply personal.
